How To Register As An Athlete?

After viewing the Sports pages of this website, determine the sport in which you would like to participate. Once you have identified that, please complete the athlete registration by clicking on the "Join Program" link https://portal.specialolympics.ca/member-registration   or if you still have questions, please contact the coach (contact information is listed under each sport) to ask specifics about the program.

How Old Do I Have To Be To Join SOO?

Throughout the year, athletes of all ages, young and old, participate in weekly training programs in local facilities. Our Active Start program accepts children ages 2-6 Fundamentals 7-13 and our Youth basketball accepts  athletes from 12 - 21.  Younger athletes do best by beginning in these programs to allow safe skill development before moving to the adult programs.

Should you have any questions or concerns please contact our Athlete Registrar at kingston.registrar@specialolympicsontario.ca. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

When Are Your Sport Training Programs?

Most of our sport training programs take place during the evenings and weekends. Most competitions are held on weekends.

What Is the Cost? What If I Can’t Afford It?

There is usually a small cost (which varies by sport club) to participate.

NO ATHLETE SHALL EVER BE DENIED THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN WEEKLY TRAINING OR COMPETITION OPPORTUNITIES BASED ON LACK OF FINANCIAL RESOURCES.
